Hi! I'm Sue Burkett, an active artist in rural Kentucky. My paintings are inspired by what surrounds me: my farm, my home and my community. I enjoy working with color, large shapes, and patterns.
A BFA graduate from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, my art work reflects the use of line to define the edges and the contours of things I observe. I study my environment to see the color my images must have. My creations reflect the nuances of overlapping edges and the character of what is observed.
Currently, my art work includes buttons as a design element. Through repetition and color variations, they are another medium used along with canvas, house siding board, acrylic house paint, acrylic tube paint, wax pastel, and permanent marker to create art that reflects the Faubush community where I live and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
